Phoenix Feathers

Morning my crafting friends, so good of you to join me today, hope this finds you all safe and well?

I have been playing with my new little toy The Perfect Airbrush. I had looked at this ages ago but thought it was a bit steep at £14.99 so left it, then the other week on one of the deals on Create and Craft they had it on again but for £8.99 so I went and bought one. Its only a little man power one that you have to squeeze the air out yourself but it works and with your pens not ink! I tried it out on my Phoenix stencil and was quite pleased with how all the colours blended together so I made a card with it. I liked the idea of the Phoenix feathers flying but of course they had to be the same colour so I hope I have achieved that lol!

After a while your hand does ache a little because you are constantly pumping the air but its not too bad. I do like the affect it gives and you can do it darker if you want to just depends on how long you airbrush in a certain place.

Thanks So Much

Morning my crafting friends, I hope this finds you all so well and enjoying the weekend.

For todays post I have gone through my little box of die cuts to see what I had to put together, usually when I die cut something out I cut a few and keep the spare in a box until another time, sometime I will look and find I don't have something in the right colour or shape but at times its good for making a quick card, like this one.

The coloured background I had as a cut off from another card I made a while back so I ran it through the E bosser then just matted it on to some White card followed by the Lilac card. It was then I raided my box lol!

Items used:

Crafters Companion Centura Pearl Pastel Card Lilac
Crafters Companion Centura Pearl Card Ivory
White Textured card

Oldies Friday

Morning my crafting friends, hope this finds you all well, thank you for visiting today.

I have joined in with Patricia's Oldies Friday today so I am not showing a card but some Cross Stitch that I did after my parents died 23 years ago, the hymn was sang and played at both funerals, it has always been one of my favourite hymns since I was a child so in remembrance of my parents I decide to stitch this.

I remember stopping where I had stopped with all the little roses because it was taking so long, I added the cross, Lamb and Shepard hook instead to use the space up! The Yellow Rose was to represent the Roses my Mom grew, she loved her roses and the Yellow ones were my favourite. The little teddy bear represents the Hospice where we had the collection for, they sold these little Teddy Bear badges so my Brother and Sister & I all had one.

Its not very well framed but its still as it was 22 years ago when I finished it lol!

Peace comes from Within

Morning crafters, hope this finds you all safe and well, thank you for visiting me today its very much appreciated.
Thank you for all your comments on how you photograph your cards, it seems most of us do it the same way with just White card at the back and front.

May I give my apologies and a warm welcome to my new follower Denise, so sorry Denise that I have not mentioned you before. Denise has a wonderful blog of her own you can find it here http://dixicreations.blogspot.co.uk/  showcasing her beautiful work.

For those of you who are interested Lidls have had the coloured card and paper in again, they also have coloured corrugated card in all these are £1.99 each, I have put a couple of images at the bottom of this post. I felt the paper was good value, ideal for matting & layering as they would not be too thick and there was twice as much paper as card.

For today's post I used a few of the odd cuts/bits & pieces left from my last post, so the items used were:

Lidls Blue card
Creative Expressions Foundation Blush Card
White Textured Card ( Own stash)
Embossilious Desire Embossing Folder Rose Vine
Spellbinders Grand Decorative Ovals
Spellbinders Lables Twenty
Spellbinders Lables Twenty-Five Frame
Sheena Douglass Taste of India Mandala Stamps Sentiment
Creative Expression Layered Scalloped Lace
Fantastic Ribbons Pink Polka Dot Ribbon
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Black Soot

I quite like the Blue & Blush card together and the embossed background looks better than a plain one.

This is the cover for the paper

These are the colours of the corrugated card

For Someone So Special

Morning crafters, I hope this finds you all safe and well. Thank you so much for visiting me today I do appreciate it and I love reading each and everyone of your comments.

Wasn't the weather gorgeous yesterday, we had a very busy day tiding up the garden, its not finished but looks a whole lot better than it did before. Today its down the allotments again to do a bit more there so we are hoping it will be a bit cooler today. No further news on our allotment issues as yet but will let you know of any further developments if any!

Thank you to everyone who commented on my post yesterday, I had some really lovely comments so Thank You.

My apologies for the poor photo for todays post, I have been trying to find other ways of photographing my cards so I put this one in a box, hence the shadow on the right!!! I don't have enough space or should I say a clear area where I can just photograph a card without having to remove all the background, the box was an idea but to paint the inside White, I have a light box but only a small one. I did like Mrs Duck post the other day with her photographing in her garden but instead of flowers in the background you would have had weeds lol! Does anyone else have this problem or are there any secrets out there to showing the cards really well? Any original ways would be nice to hear about.

Today's post was a quick one despite all the die cuts as I had it in my head what I wanted to do so once I had chosen to use the blush card it was all systems go as it had to be White to go with it.

Items used are:

Creative Expressions Foundations Card Blush
Textured White Card (own stash)
Creative Expressions Unmounted Stamps Classic Sentiments
Spellbinders majestic Lables twenty-Five
Spellbinders Imperial Gold Gold Labels Four
Wild Rose Studio Oval Frame
Spellbinders Labels Twenty
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Black Soot
Creative Expression American Seam binding Ribbon Pink
Creative Expressions Small Fancy Pearl Embellishments

I quite liked how the finished card looked and how the dies sort of went together, even if it is quite Pink lol!

The finished dimensions of the card are 6" X 6.5"

White with a touch of colour

Morning my crafting friends, so good for you to visit me today, I hope this finds you all safe and well.
Well start of another weekend, no doubt this one will fly by too lol! Today's card was an experiment, I wanted to do a White on White card, then I thought about doing a scene, finally I decided to make one of the layers the colours of the Grass & Sky hopefully to set off the scene!

I started by embossing some Crafters Companion Centura Pearl White Card with Embossilicious Desire Embossing Folder Clouds, cut more CC Centura card to form hills, then added the Tattered Lace Summer Pastures (Free with magazine No 7)at the front followed by two SB Die-lites Whimsical Trees in the background, I cut one down so it looked like it was in the distance.

I matted and layered this onto the Creative Expressions Foundation Card Spring Green & Turquoise, followed by some White card then more White card to complete it.

I covered the inside with the left over Spring Green Card and die cut SB Grand Decorative Circles out of the the Turquoise card to form a place for a sentiment or verse.

There you have the finished card. Dimensions 8" X 8"

My apologies for the photograph.

Rose Garden

Morning my crafting friends, so nice to be here and I look forward to your visits even though mine seem few and far between lately!!!

So sorry for the absence on some of your posts I have been trying to catch up we were so busy at the weekend I don't even know where the time went! We have had a lot to sort out down the allotment as we have a committee member who wants us off purely because he gave permission for other plot holders to help themselves to our belongings when we were not there saying we had left, by getting rid of us hes covering his own back, one thing led to another which resulted in him threatening to burn our shed down so sadly the police have had to get involved, it all happens down allotments I can tell you lol!  At least its being dealt with, he has admitted it to the police but did not want the rest of the committee to know so we have let them know now we are just waiting to see whether they let him stay or not! Watch this space lol! Gosh this IS  supposed to be a craft site what am I doing rambling on about allotments, my apologies.
Sincere thanks to Suzie & Ang for wondering why I had gone quite lol! I spend so much time rambling on I never get time to craft to get more cards on here lol!!! I do appreciate your concerns so thank you but I am fine just trying to cut back on all the waffle lol! Here I am posting an essay ha ha!!! As for my pets well, I think I mentioned I lost another rabbit a couple of weeks ago bless her but the dog is fine spreading tufts of her fur coat around the place I am sure I could make a few jumpers out of all the hair lol! The cats are still not sure of her, its ok if she doesn't move lol! My female cat will walk past her now but only if she can give the dog a little snarl along the way just to let her know whose boss!!!

Well that's enough rabble now for my card...

Thinking of You Flourish

Morning my crafting friends, thank you for joining me here again today I do appreciate it.

I have decided to keep my posts a bit more brief as it takes up so much time explaining what I have done it leaves little time to craft what with work, house and pets, if you know what I mean so please do ask if you ever want to know more detail, this way I may manage to get a few more cards done lol!

Thank you for all your wonderful comments for my last post.
Hazel & Suzie-thank you for your kind comments on my role as an LSA, much appreciated, its not always easy and we are sometimes used as doormats but then there are sometimes rewards such as appreciation from some kids.

Scotland Stag

Morning crafters hope this finds you all safe and well? Thank you for visiting me today I do appreciate it, please do leave a comment and a link if you have one so I can return the favour.

I recently purchased the Card Creations 'Brush Strokes in the Wild' CD Rom, there are some fabulous images on there and this one of the Scotland Stag is one of them, I love the scenery behind him, magnificent. I tried to fit the colours of my card/paper in with the colours from the image so I used:

Create and Craft  Silk Finish Card Brown
Create and Craft Double-Sided Satin/Miri Card Peach
Create and Craft Adhesive Velvet Paper Dark Blue
Kanban Foiled Card Brown
Card Creations CD Rom Brush Strokes in the Wild Scotland Stag Image & Backing Paper

I matted and layered up the image, card & papers as seen. I wanted to use a Dark Blue card to match the image but I did not have any, luckily I found the Adhesive Velvet Paper that I had for quite a few years so that did the trick. I attached the image in the center to off set the backing paper.

On the Waves

Morning my crafting friends, another weekend is upon us, the weeks sure do fly fast.
We are very busy at work at the moment with exams taking place, year 11 left before the half term break and just come in for their exams now, these kids grow up fast!

For todays post I decided on a Blue sea theme. My inspiration for this was the image itself which is from Crafters Companion Halcyan Days CD Rom featuring the beautiful embroidery art work of Abigail Mill. There are some beautiful images on this CD showing how she has made her Art images all out of textiles.

I chose this little image and decided to die cut it with SB Labels Twenty-Six, I used a larger die from the same set to die cut a piece of Lidls Blue card, I matted and layered these together and put to one side.

I got my 6" X 6" base card then cut a piece of Crafters Companion Centura Pearl Pastel Blue Card, ran this through the Embossalicious Die'sire Embossing Folder Clouds, sanding over the embossed clouds using a sanding block rubbing only lightly just to obtain a bit of White around the clouds, I quite like the effect this gave. I then matted this onto my base card. Across the bottom of this I added a piece of Blue Patterned card that I had in my recycle box, I thought this would look okay as the pattern looked a little like waves. To hide the join between the two cards I attached a piece of Dovecraft Blue Ribbon.

I attached my image as seen but felt the bottom looked too bare so I added some of the die cut accents from SB Shapeabilities Twisted Metal Tags & Accents set, I cut these out of more Lidls Blue card and attached them at the bottom of the card as seen.

Elephant Family

Morning crafters, hope this finds you all well?

A rather bright card for you today, the colours were chosen from the image so my apologies if its a bit too bright for some of you lol!

I started with a sheet of Crafters Companion Centura Pearl Blue Pastel card and folded it in half to make a Landscape card. Onto this I matted a piece of Create and Craft Kraft card.

I felt I matched up the Yellow in the image (Card Creations CD Rom "Brush Strokes in the Wild") with this Lidls Bright Yellow card, I cut it to size then ran it through the E Bosser with Sheen Douglass Marching Elephants Embossing Folder, I rubbed Creative Expressions Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Wax Cast Bronze over the raised Elephants, rounded the corners then matted it onto my card.

I formatted the image on my computer to give it a Black frame then matted and layered onto Yellow and Blue card before attaching it onto my card at an angle as seen.

For the sentiment (CE Kind Thoughts) I stamped with TH Vintage Photo onto Yellow card then die cut using SB Standard Circles Large, I mounted it onto some CC Centura Blue Pastel card also die cut with SB Standard Circles Large then attached it to the card in the bottom right corner.

There you have the finished card.

One for the Guys

Morning Crafters, hope this finds you all safe and well. Thank you for paying me a visit today, its much appreciated.

Today's post I have done for the Guys and it features one of my favourite dies from Tattered Lace the Oriental Dragon.

I decided on the colours Blue & Silver first of all so I folded a sheet of Create and Craft Silver Miri Card in half to form the Landscape card.

I cut out four panels from Creative Expressions Foundation Teal Card, measuring them up carefully trying to get them all the same size as well as the paper from Tattered Lace Magazine, needless to say no matter how hard I tried they were not perfect lol!

I matted and layered these up and spaced them out equally on the card to form a backdrop for my Dragon.

Using the Tattered Lace Dragon Die I die cut it twice, once out of the CE Teal card and once out of the CC Silver Miri card, I used the Teal Dragon as a shadow for the Silver Dragon. I attached this to the card in the bottom left corner.

Using more of the Teal & Silver Miri card I stamped my sentiment using Chinese Style Letters, sorry I have had these a while and cannot remember the make of them,I inked them with my Versamark Pad onto the Teal card and heat embossed with Papermania Embossing Powder Seafoam White. I then die cut with SB Imperial Gold - Gold Lables Four, with the Silver Miri card I first inked up the SB Gold Lables Four die with TH Peacock Feathers then die cut, unfortunately the ink did not adhere to the miri card so it does not show up. I matted the Teal sentiment on top of the Silver Miri die cut and attached this to the top right corner of the card to balance out the Dragon.

There you have the finished card. In hindsight I feel it may have looked better had I put another layer under the four panels on top of the Silver base card.

Leopard on the Rocks!

Morning crafters, hope this finds you all safe and well.? Thank you for coming and looking today, I do hope you leave a comment and come back again, I really do appreciate your time.

I have had the Card Creations CD Rom "Brush Strokes in the Wild" for a time now so thought I had better start using some of the fabulous images on there. I decided on this beautiful image of a leopard resting on the rocks, most images come in several shapes and sizes but not circles so I formatted this one in my word document then die cut it out using SB Standard Circles Large.

I printed off one of the sheets of backing paper from the same CD Rom and it was this paper that made me choose the colour card, Black card and Lidls Pale Yellow card. I matted and layered the image onto Yellow then Black card and did the same with the backing paper.

I attached the image in the top left corner of my card then printed my sentiment from Creative Expressions Unmounted Stamps Heartfelt Sentiments with TH Distress Ink Black Soot onto more of the Yellow card and die cut it with SB  Radiant Rectangles.

I attached this to the card as seen, there you have the completed card.
