Beauty Comes From Within Canvas

Hello my crafting friends, did you manage to view our Sheena on Hochanda last night? If not she is on today at 7am, 9am, 12 noon, 4pm and again at 7pm so plenty of opportunity to tune in if you wish. The design team have made some stunning samples so do please go and take a look

Here is the canvas that I did with the 'Butterfly Torn' stamp...

                                                                         close up!

I first covered my canvas with Galleria Modelling Paste and combed through to make the lines, this is one technique I stealed from the lovely and beautiful talented Pamellia which you can view HERE, not only have I stolen the comb technique but also the painting of the background, I so love Pamellias designs and creations and I loved this background so decided to give it a go not really knowing where it would lead! For my colouring I used Aquatints Blue from Landscape and Black from Essentials. I made sure I painted round the edges of the canvas too!!!

On some card I stamped the Butterfly Torn stamp and cut it out by hand then painted it in with Distress Inks, I put this to one side.

I stamped more of the Butterflies onto some card and painted each one with Pebeo Iridescent Paints as I knew this would show the lovely glisten and shine of the colours. I hand cut each one out and placed to one side.

In my stash I had this die cut of Sissix Tim Holtz Alterations Frameworks so I placed this onto my canvas on the left hand side vertically then placed my cut out Butterfly Torn piece on the bottom. I stuck my Butterflies down as if they were flying out of the dark hole into Freedom, showing their beautiful colours as they went, hence the sentiment 'Beauty comes from Within' which is one of the sentiments that come with the stamps. I placed this in the bottom right corner and there is the finished canvas. I do hope you like it and a Special Thank You to Pamellia for all her inspiration, go and check out her wonderful blog if you have not already done so its http://mylittlecraftthings.blogspot.co.uk/

Amor

Hello my crafting friends, I hope you all had a very happy Easter break with not too much Chocolate! Can there be too much Chocolate? lol! Maybe I can get on and try and lose some weight now lol!

Now today's post is still from Sheena's DOTD Range (sorry to those who do not like it) but this is one of the extra stamp sets of a beautiful Senorita. The set is called 'Forever Yours'.

I got a piece of Sheena's White Stamping Card and painted over it with Tim Holtz Distress Inks Antique Linen and Brushed Cordroy, I then sponged Pebeo Iridescent Paint GreenBlue through Sheena's Distress Stencil in the top left and bottom right corners before rubbing over a little Silver & Gold Gilding Wax across the card, then I stamped the AMOR stamp randomly over the background using Ground Expresso Distress Ink then painted over the whole card with the Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen Clear to add a bit of sparkle.

On a piece of White card I stamped the Senorita using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pumice Stone  to which I spread the ink a little with water to add some depth then using other Distress Inks Ground Expresso, Crushed Olive and Victoria Velvet I coloured the image in. When I had finished I painted Clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle over her hair and choker to make them shine.

Out of more White card I die cut the Top Hat from Sheena's DOTD Union of Souls set, coloured it with Aqua Marker Blossom from the Floral set then painted Clear Sparkle over that too.

There you have the finished card.

30th Skull card

Hello there my crafting friends, good to have you with me today. May I wish you all a Very Happy Easter, sorry no Easter card but as I mentioned the other day I had made a card for a friends 30th Birthday who likes skulls so I thought I would show you this one today. My apologies for those of you who do not like these kind of cards, especially Ang lol! I shall post something different soon. It will soon be safe Ang, not a lot but soon...!!!

To begin with I wanted a colourful background but not too bright it would take the focus away from the skull so I chose three colours from the Aquatints Bright & Beautiful set and put to one side.

I cut a piece of Sheena's White Stamping card to size then using my Paisley Blockwallah  stamp block with my Versamark Ink pad I randomly stamped over the card then heat embossed with Creative Expressions White Embossing Powder.

Now with my three Aquatints, I chose the Green, Blue & Purple, using a natural sponge I sponged each colour over the card a little at a time going over each colour with a different one until I was happy with the result, now less is more is the way with this as you cannot take it off once it has been put on.

Once it was dry I wiped over with a dry piece of kitchen towel to take any excess ink from the White embossed pattern. I then wrapped a piece of Green Craft ribbon around the middle of the card, matted it onto some Sheena Black card then attached it to my base card.
Out of White card I die cut and stamped Sheena's day of the Dead Sugar Skull, with the added extra stamps that comes with the set. I stamped the flowers and leaves round the skull, then the circles round the eyes and finally the heart above the eyes. I coloured these in with Aqua Markers Floral & Nature.

I cut a piece of Black card to size so it fitted on the back of the skull giving a base to the eye sockets, using one of the smaller stamps in Sheena's Day of the Dead Floral Fantasy Stamps and Pebeo Iridescent Paint Red Blue I stamped the small flower in each of the eye sockets.

In the center of each painted eye I placed a little Red gem, this showed the eyes up more. I attached this on the ribbon in the center of the card.

I made some larger flowers by die cutting out of copier paper using Sheena's Day of the Dead Floral Fantasy and colouring them with Aquatints Bright & Beautiful, I die cut and stamped the DOTD Dancing Skeleton twice and cut of the heads and placed them in the center of the flowers and placed these in the bottom left corner. I then die cut the top hat from the DOTD Union of Souls set and coloured it Red with Aqua Marker Begonia then went over with a Clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen. I attached this to the head of the skull as seen.

To finish the card I die cut the guitar from DOTD Dance Macabre set out of some oriental Brown paper and placed this in the bottom right corner. There you have the finished card.

Little Elf & Ele Notebook

Hello my crafting friends, I really must apologize for not commenting on your blogs of late, I have been so busy I have not had time to get on here much, I do look at your beautiful creations but just don't have the time to comment at the moment so please forgive me.

I am now hoping to catch up with some craftiness now that I have broken up from work, although I do have a busy August I hope to get some posts on here lol!

Yesterday I made this notebook for a dear friend who has left our team and is becoming an English Teacher in September, next week she goes on holiday to India so I thought this was appropriate lol! Had to add a cheeky little Elf!!!

I started with some Black card and scored down the middle twice to make the 'spine' of the notebook. I then stamped and heat embossed the corner scrolls with Black embossing powder.

I stamped my Elephant with Versamark and heat embossed that too with Black embossing powder then painted him in with Pebeo Iridescent paints, I do love these paints, you only need the smallest amount and the shine they give is gorgeous, I painted his body with Silver but added a bit of Blue Black to make it a little darker for the shadows. The blanket I painted using Green Yellow; Orange Yellow and Violet Blue. Now the Violet Blue colour looks Pink but turns Purple when applied to Black card which is why the flowers are purple lol! I used White Acrylic paint mixed with a tiny bit of Yellow Aquatints to create the off White for his tusks and toes.

I painted the Elf using Blue Green and Orange Yellow. I cut a slit in the card and poked him through leaving him dangling on the inside lol! I stamped my sentiment on the scroll and placed that under his arms.

For the inside I folded several pieces of copy paper until I felt it was thick enough, I trimmed the edges to fit, though some not as straight as I would have liked!!! I halved them and stitched each half inside the book, threading each half section to the spine three times, sorry did not photograph this so I do hope it makes sense?

There the notebook was complete, it measures about 7"X5". I am quite pleased with the end result so I am hoping my friend will be too.

Jewellery Box!

Morning my crafting friends, hope today finds you all well?

Today I am showing you the home decor piece I made for the Sheena Douglass 4 Day deal on Create and Craft RIGHT NOW!

I wanted to show that the Fiary was not just a fairy, she could be a ballerina as I have shown here.

I bought some cheap boxes and painted one up in a pale shade of Pink then rubbed Gold gilding wax around the edges. My son took the hinges and fastener off and burnt them to make them look old and not so shiny!

For the fairy I die cut her out and embossed her then snipped into her arms and legs to change the pose. I embossed some vellum in the Christmas Rose folder, cut the flowers out and placed them on her as her dress, I then ran some stickles glitter glue round the edges. I painted on her ballet shoes and positioned her on top of the box.

Using more vellum I stamped some Ivy and embossed it with Gold embossing powder before cutting it out, I painted on the back with Aquatints and stuck it round the sides of the box.
Using the Fairy wings  I die cut and embossed them with Vellum and heat resistant acetate, heat embossed with Gold embossing powder and painted on the back with Aquatints, I then matted and layered each vellum wing under the acetate one, added a gem for the body, some craft wire for their antennas and they became butterflies. I placed these on the box as seen.

For the inside of the box I just folded strips of card and stuck them together to form a frame inside the box, I covered this with Self Adhesive Felt in a deep Pink shade and placed inside the box to make the compartments for jewellery or whatever.

The design team have come up with some absolutely fabulous ideas for home decor so please do tune in to see their stunning creations. The Sheena Douglass 4 Day Deal shows are on Create and Craft over the next couple of days

Elf & Fairy

Good Monday Morning to you all today, hope this finds you all safe and well, plenty of hugs to those who need them.

Well I am sure you will know by now (if not why not, have you not been reading my posts lol!) the lovely Sheena Douglass has a 4 day deal starting this morning over at Create and Craft showcasing her new and beautiful Christmas Perfect Partners designs. These are dies and stamps to match and they are gorgeous.
May I add the card we use for all these are Sheena's White stamping card and Black card, they are 300gsm but I have never seen such wonderful thick card as in these, they are beautiful to work with and seem a lot more than 300gsm. Good price too.

So today you have a double helping as I am showing you the two other Elf & Fairy you have in the sets, these are the sitting down poses but a little snip here and there and you can have them posing anyway you want them to!!!

I made a card showing a pile of presents  that the lights wrapped round and perched the Elf as if he was sitting on the bottom present himself putting on the lights!

I think this card really shows up the beautiful colour of the Pebeo Iridescent paints, unfortunately you cannot see the shine from them here. I love the little Elf posing on the box, I just snipped into the knees and bent his legs down into a sitting pose, very easy to do. Elf was coloured using Spectrum Noir pens.
I added a little sparkle in the background by gluing through a stencil and adding glitter in the top left corner of the card.

My second card is a monochrome one showcasing the sitting down pose of the Fairy. I have kept the card fairly simple using  one of Sheena's Christmas folders, painting over with white Gesso then sanding it back to reveal the words. I then ran some acetate through the Icicle folder (both folders were on her last shows), I rubbed Silver gilding wax over the icicle design then attached it to the top of the card with Snowflake brads.

The fairy I die cut & embossed, layering her up and painted her using Black Soot, her wings were cut and embossed out of White card but then heat embossed with Black embossing powder. I sat her at the bottom of the card as seen
The whole card was then matted and layered onto White then Back card.

I hope you like these, I have more to show you over the next couple of days so I hope you don't get bored with them lol!
