Hello my crafting friends, I do apologize for my absence over the last 10 days but I have not been well, two horrible viruses all at once, thankfully it looks like I am now on the mend. So I do apologize for not visiting any blogs or for those I have managed to get to look at but not commented.
Now it was my hubby's birthday last week and this was the card I made for him, still using those wonderful skeletons and I was so pleased when I realised they were just the right size to fit into Sheena's chair stencil. So I started by stenciling the chair onto some Sheena's White Stamping Card, coloured the flowers in with Tim Holtz Distress Inks Stormy Sky, Forest Moss and Dried Marmalade.
I coloured in the background with Tim Holtz Distress Inks Squeezed Lemonade and Crushed Olive then using Sheena's Distress Stencil I inked through with Antique Linen Distress Ink.
To colour the chair itself I used Spectrum Noir Floral Pencil Set using the yellow and going over part of the flowers with Purple, I blended all the colour in using Creative Expressions Blending Solution for Gilding Wax and a Blending Tool.
Out of White card I die cut and stamped the skeleton and cat from Sheena Douglass Perfect Partners Day of the Dead Range. I coloured the boots in Brown Aqua Markers and made a tin can out of card and coloured it Green (Aqua Markers)to look like a can of lager!!! I placed the skeleton in the position as though he was sitting in the chair drinking his beer lol! I had also placed a piece of Black card behind the skeletons and cats heads to show the eye sockets.
I coloured the legs of the chair with a Black Sharpie Pen, made a sentiment to match the card and there it was finished.
I was quite pleased with the end result and I think it makes for a good 'mans' card.

Hello Jacquie,
ReplyDeletePleased that you are feeling a bit better now. I've been missing myself and apologise for that. I love this card, it would be perfect for the old man who was an upholsterer before he retired. I need that stencil and love the dies.
