Negative Love

Morning my crafting friends, another weekend is upon us and I cannot believe half term is over already, time flies when you are having fun that's for sure.

May I thank each and everyone of you for all your lovely comments whether you are a follower of my blog or not its always lovely to hear from you, I much appreciate all your comments and hope you come back to visit again.

Now Wendy has been showing us all her beautiful dies of late and Ang let us know how many die sets she had so that got me to wondering how many I had, my oh my was I shocked. I have 129 die sets which total 528 dies in all!!! I would never had believed I had that many, I have so many I have not used in a while either, shame on me and I want to add more lol! There are lots of dies I could really use like the ones you can make frames with, basic Ovals and Square dies to make matting and layering a lot easier and accurate! I hate to think what the total cost of these are, maybe I should look in getting them insured lol!!! I don't think I will start what Wendy has done and show a different die each day as I would never get through them, maybe when the summer holidays start as I have 6 weeks then lol! I will seriously have to start using some of my older dies.

Today's post is inspired by one of Sue Wilson's cards from one of her shows the other week when she used the negative from one of her Leaf dies on the front of a card, so I have done the same, using the negative from a leaf die.

I started with my base card and matted and layered it up with some Gold Satin card and a piece of card stenciled with a leaf mask using Cosmic Shimmer Iridescent Mica Pigments.

On top of this I layered the Vienna die cut using White card.

With a piece of Off White card I die cut the Faux Quilled Leaves and with the negative piece I backed it using a piece of embossed card and attached it over the top of the Vienna die cut.

For my sentiment I stamped onto more of the Off White card, cut it into a banner and matted it onto a piece of Gold Satin Card, I cut that into a banner also then attached it at the top of my card as seen.

There you have the finished card.

  1. This is gorgeous Jacquie, such an elegant design. I love the stencilled background with the touch of shimmer.
I hope you have a good weekend. I agree, the past week has gone far too quickly.
    hugs Sue xx

  2. Good morning Jacquie,
A beautiful, card useing what could have been thrown away.
    Have a great weekend

  3. Hi Jacquie this is very pretty indeed. Something I want to try, using the negative cut. I would not like to count the number of dies I have! I know there are two filing cabinet drawers full, a CD box full, two drawers full and then others in boxes!!! And I still don't have all the ones I need (want)!! I could probably buy a new car with what I have spent on dies lol!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend hugs Susan xx

  4. A lovely card Jacquie. I have not actually counted how many individual dies just the sets and isn't it surprising how many you have. I have enough to carry on until end of Feb and afew days in March. xxxx

  5. Gorgeous Jacquie! Love the negative foliage and the metallic layers really add elegance! Beautiful! I think I made everyone curious about their numbers...tee hee. Mine was over 800! hugs :)

  6. Morning Jacquie, I think Wendy has certainly started something with the counting and using of dies..... I too don'y use my dies as often as i should and i'm ashamed to say i have some that have never been out of the packets (especially when i buy a multi buy from c&c ). I know at one point i had over 200 die sets - which is absolutely ridiculous !!! Although i do go through my dies quite often and sell ones that i know i wont use - it doesn't stop me buying new ones though. !! Have a good day. Janice xx

  7. This is fabulous Jacquie, such an elegant design and lovely background.
I think I would be embarrassed to admit how many sets of dies I have so I'm definitely not going to count them!

  8. Hi Jacquie
A very elegant card. Terrific use of the waste.
I'm psyching myself up to actually counting the lot lol!
    Have a great weekend.
    Ang x

  9. Shock horror when we realise how many dies we have BUT look at the gorgeous creations we make from them and this one is just that....I love this card. I won't count my dies Jacquie as I will shock

Thanks for the love for Thye, I am holding good positive vibes for her but also know 'things happen for a reason'...
