Bird House

Morning my crafting friends, hope today finds you all safe and well, thank you for visiting me today, its much appreciated, I do read all your lovely comments and view your blogs if you have one, please leave a link to your blog if you do have one then I can return the favour.

This was another little mixed media card I did, the base card is using the 'leather' card, this is matted and layered using designer paper and Peacock papers, in-between those I have placed a doily. I have added two corners on top of the Peacock paper.

The top layer is designer paper again that has been embossed with the Lattice mask then inked with Vintage Photo through a Brick work Stencil before being painted over with a thick layer of Crackle Glaze, this does not crackle as much as I would like it too and I do not think it shows up on these images too well either, sorry.

The Bird house stamp was a free gift along with some Art products I ordered from Paper Artsy, I stamped it with Vintage Photo then heat embossed with Copper embossing powder then inked over with Rusty Hinge, cut it out a stuck to the front of the card with foam pads.

I stamped the Bird from Anne Marie Birdcage set on top of the bird house then added two dragonflies from DM Flutterby stamps using Black Archival Ink.

A little card which did not take too long to make, I have left the sentiment off until I decied a use for it lol!

Birthday Wish

Morning my crafting friends, hope today finds you all well, lots of hugs to those who don't.

Its my Sisters birthday today so I wish her a very Happy Day, she lives in France so no doubt shes arranged a day out somewhere with friends.

Today's post is not her Birthday card but one I did a while ago  and have not got round to putting it on here as I was not 'that' happy about it but I thought why waste all the time making it and not showing it lol!!

I started with my base card, this was one sheet of A4 Leather Look Cream card folded in half, along the bottom I scored it to add some interest.

I cut to size a piece of Black card and stenciled through the  wood grain mask using Copper metallic paint. On top of this I layered some card I had distressed with Forest Moss then another piece of card I distressed with Peacock Feathers and Abandoned Coral.

In two corners I added some modeling paste through a metal grid and left to dry.

In the center I placed half a doily that I had distressed with Forest Moss and stamped the word 'WISH' in the middle using Vintage Photo, on top of these layers I stamped the little bird and the gargoyle.

I found some bunting triangles so I placed them on top and added the letters to say 'Birthday'. Using modelling clay I made a frame and heat embossed it with Aged Aqua embossing enamel, In the center I added an old photo of a Family that I had printed of the internet.

I die cut a branch and some leaves, placed them around the frame but positioning the branch so it was under the bird, then added some tiny flowers either side of the frame after I had added some Diamond Snow to the petals.

To finish the card I added dots of glue around the dried paste circles and sprinkled some tiny beads over the top.

Christmas Rose

Morning my crafting friends hope you are all fine today? Thank you for visiting me I love to have you here.

Remember our Sheena is back tomorrow .Sheena Douglass is back on Create and Craft on Thursday 25 June at 8.00 & 11.00 a.m. and 2.00, 4.00, and 7.00 p.m with some NEW Christmas stamps and embossing folders.

There are some fabulous stamps and folders and lots and lots of great inspiration from the DT and of course the lovely Sheena, the more inspiration the better right lol!

I made a quick and simple card showing one of Sheena's folders 'The Christmas Rose' trying to keep it CAS. I wished I had embossed it again and cut the flowers out to place over the top of the others but we can all see in hindsight can't we lol!

I wanted to keep the flowers very soft so I painted them using AquaTints, just the outlines.

I printed my sentiment on the PC then die cut with Austrian Collection Corners, Boarders & Tags, placed this up in the top corner and there is the finished card.

Silver Bells

Hello my crafting friends, hope this finds you all safe and well, if not hugs all round.

Now, most of you know now that I was extremely lucky to be invited onto Sheena Douglass DT  well not long  now  .....Sheena Douglass is back on Create and Craft on Thursday 25 June at 8.00 & 11.00 a.m. and 2.00, 4.00, and 7.00 p.m with some NEW Christmas stamps and embossing folders.  My cards won't feature on this one but there are some Fantastic examples from the other DT please do look in on the shows, you will not be disappointed.

I have done this little example of a new stamp entitled 'Silver Bells'.

I used two kinds of Hammered card on this, White & Blue matted and layered. On top I have letterpress embossed with the Ancient Arches Embossing folder and Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

I stamped the Bells onto White card and painted with AquaTints then cut out and placed on top of the embossed card.

I stamped the sentiment that comes with the stamp set onto White card and made a ribbon out of it matting it onto Blue Hammered card and placed this across the bottom of the card trying not to cover up too much of the embossed card.

There you have the finished card, dimensions are 7"X5".

Happy Father's Day Card

Hello my crafting friends, good to see you here, hope you are all well, plenty of hugs going for those of you who need them.

Thank you all so much for all your wonderful comments of late I really do appreciate them. I am still up in cloud 9 with joining Sheena's Design Team, the others have been extremely welcoming, a lovely team so full of talent. Maureen please feel free to use any technique I put on here, we are all crafters and crafters share right?

Now today's post is the Father's Day card I have made for my FIL, I know its early to show it but hey!!! I knew I wanted a Photography theme as he used to do quite a bit of photography and still does bits now from time to time. I wanted an old looking Photography theme, hopefully I have achieved it?

I first used a sheet of Kraft card and folded it in half to form the base. Using some White Hammer card I put it through the Movie Theme embossing folder twice to extend the pattern, I lightly inked over  the top of the embossed part with Black Soot to show up the film reels.

I had the idea of incorporating old pictures of my hubby & his brother when they were small children so after putting them onto Photoshop I inverted each image to turn them into a negative.

Using the film die I die cut some Black card so it looked like a negative and carefully glued the images behind, I did not have much space to glue as obviously I did not want the images to cover the film cog holes down the side of the negative, once attached I added a strip of Black card to the back to strengthen it up a little, I attached these to the embossed film part on the right side of the card to try and make it look like it was part of the film. Not sure I achieved this but I am sure you can see what I mean lol!.
Using some Kraft card cut to size I stamped some images  with Vintage Photo then  inked round the edge of the card to make it look darker and more sepia toned. On more Kraft card I stamped the sentiments and made them look like little tags, I inked round the edge of these, tied some twine through and put them to one side. I re stamped the small film strips twice and the camera using my Versamark ink pad and heat embossed them with Black embossing powder, I placed these over the original stamps on the Kraft card using foam tape, I felt this made them stand out a bit more. I attached this onto my base card at an angle along with the sentiment tags as seen.

I typed various words on the PC including 'Happy Father's Day' and printed them off, cut them out and placed them in the spare space on my card, there you have the finished card, hopefully my FIL will like it!

Glazed Butterflies

Hello my crafting friends, good of you to join me today, I hope you are all safe and well, if not plenty of hugs coming your way.

Today's post is another card I made a while back using the butterfly stamp I bought but this time I added a background of modeling paste through the honeycomb stencil.

I started with some basic White card cut to size to form the base. Using another piece of White card I added the modeling paste through the stencil and once dry stenciled some Peacock Feathers over the edges and rounded the corners.

I inked my butterfly stamp up with three distress inks; Crushed Olive, Dried Marmalade & Peacock Feathers, spritzed it with water then stamped onto White card, this gave a beautiful three colour effect, once dry I applied Glaze over the top three times, fussy cut it out and mounted on top of the honeycomb paste using foam tape then attached this to my base card, again using foam tape.

There you have the finished card, dimensions are 6"X4"

Feathered Daisy and some really exciting news!!!

Hello my crafting friends, good of you to join me today. Well I have some exciting news to share with you, as some of you will know I have always loved Sheena Douglass products, have bought plenty and have posted cards made with her products on here in the past, well now I am ecstatic to announce that I have been accepted on Sheena's Design team, I was so gobsmacked when I received the phone call from none other than the lady herself to tell me I had been accepted as an inkoid! Sheena has taken on four new DT members and over the last couple of days we have all been getting to know the rest of the DT, such a great friendly bunch, so get ready for more of Sheena's' great art work being presented on here in the future. I could have screamed with delight when asked believe me lol!

I have more exciting news but that is in a couple of weeks, I like to tease lol!

Well that's my exciting news now onto todays post, it's not a Sheena production though I am in the middle of some but this is one I made last week and thought it about time I put it on here.

I started with a sheet of Pearlescent Teal card and folded it in half, trimmed to size then die cut the bottom using curved boarders two. I measured to fit a piece of White Linen card and die cut this at the bottom again using curved boarders two.

Using my Versamark ink pad I stamped up the Feathered Daisy stamp, stamped onto the card at an angle and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I coloured the feathers in by stenciling Forest Moss over them gently. I coloured in the Daisy and the Peacock eye with Spectrum Noir pens. I then stamped the daisy again onto more White Linen card, heat embossed it the same way, coloured that in and fussy cut it out and attached it on top of the Daisy stamp turning it slightly to show the daisy underneath and to give the card some dimension.

On the right side I stamped the sentiment from Daisy Chain Elements Clear stamps using Forest Moss.

I matted this onto the Teal Pearlescent card and there you have the finished card.

Faux Leather Note Book

Hello my crafting friends, hope today finds you all safe and well, big hugs to those who need them. Another weekend is upon us, don't they come round quickly, especially when you are off work lol!

May I welcome my newest followers, good to have you here, if you have a blog of your own then please do let me know so I can return the favour.

Now over the last few weeks, yes I did say weeks as I started this before my back went, at least the cover, on Thursday I actually put the papers in and added the pictures lol! I have made this for a work colleague who is leaving at the end of term to become a Teacher of Drama and she adores The Minions so this seemed fitting.

This is my first attempt at the faux leather and I am quite pleased with it, I think I could have done better on the colouring of the leather, I used Vintage Photo and Dried Marmalade and sprayed it with a Matt Varnish. For those of you who do not know how to make this there is a brilliant video on You Tube for the Queen of faux leather herself, Sheena Douglass, it would be so much better you watching that than have me try and explain it on here believe me!

The inside I lined with material cut from an old top of mine, one of my favourites and rather than throw it thought I would use the material some how, as my friend also like feathers this seemed perfect.

Now for the pages on the inside I only used copy paper, nothing special, I printed my images from the internet and mounted each one onto Black card before attaching it onto a single page. The finished book ended up fatter than anticipated so it was just as well I kept to one side of the page only! In hindsight I should have placed the image in the center of each page as the book is quite fat at the top and goes in at the bottom lol! I did say this was my first attempt lol!

Butterfly Kisses

Hello my crafting friends I hope today finds you all safe and well, if not I send you plenty of hugs.

Today's card features a lucky buy that I saw  in my local craft shop. This Butterfly stamp was an ex-demo and reduced from £6.99 to 75p!!! Yes you did read correctly, I did ask before buying it whether the price was right and the Lady said it must be if that's what it says so I snapped it up before they changed their minds lol! It had only been used once so I was quite chuffed with it and thought it quite a pretty butterfly stamp.

Now before I stamped the focal image I sprayed some diluted water colour paints onto my Cream card, let it dry then stamped my Butterfly stamp using a Veramark ink pad and heat embossed with Black embossing powder. I coloured in the Butterflies using Promarker Pens. I then die cut the channel in the card.

On more card I sprayed the diluted water colours again but using different colours, more Blues and Purples this time. I attached the Butterfly stamped card over the top leaving the channel to show the sprayed coloured card underneath.

I stamped my sentiment up the top using Archival Black then matted it onto more Cream card for the base and there you have the finished card.

Ships Bottle

Morning to you all, start of another week. I am glad to report my back is much better though I am still off work for another week, and as I can now manage to craft I intend to play, play, play lol!

May I welcome Maria Alder, lovely to have you visit me, I do hope you come again.

The last few days I have been making a oldie type candle jar, not sure it's to every ones taste but I enjoyed creating it. Now I have to apologize for the amount of images for this...

I started with a plain glass jar and cleaned it up. I then painted it with a coat of White Gesso, just leaving the screw top clear.  I mixed up some Acrylic paints with a bit of Brown AquaTints to make a sort of sandy, sepia colour and painted over the jar.  I then rubbed the edges with a sanding block to give a distress look before rubbing over the jar with Vintage Photo.

Sheena Douglass has three fabulous stamps of Ships, Destination, Phantom Ship and Be Strong, these are what I wanted to have around the sides of the jar, unfortunately they would not stamp straight onto the jar, they looked a bit of a mess so I cleaned them off and decided to stamp straight onto printable tissue paper, the sort you have to decorate candles with. I stamped each ship on a separate piece of tissue paper using Vintage Photo, I tore round each image to make it look more old and put them to one side.

Being as there are four sides to this jar I decided to look for an image of an old map, I thought this would go with the ship images, so I printed one off the internet onto tissue paper, tore round the edge and adhered it to the jar with PVA mixed with water, letting it go round the edges of the jar.

Now going back to my Ship images, one by one I adhered them to the jar the same way as the map. So far so good lol! I was quite pleased with how each side looked but it was still to bare for me so I sorted some shells out, all different sizes and colours and glued these around the bottom of the jar to fit in with the images, coming up just a little on the corners.

In my stash I found some little charms, two of shells and one anchor, perfect. I threaded these onto some Yellow Bakers Twine and put aside. Using some garden twine I wrapped this around the top of the jar then tied in some knots. I wrapped the Yellow twine and charms over the top of the garden twine, tying it in place but leaving the charms hanging down slightly.

To add some atmosphere to the jar I placed a small candle inside, these images were taken with the candle alight shining through the images on the jar, I am sure they would show up more when it is lit in the dark...

Here it is in the dark using a flash         Without a flash!

I was quite pleased with the result although I know I could possibly have made a better job with more thought.

Someone Very Special

Hello my crafting friends, I am back, for now at least lol! I am still off work but am starting to get round a bit more, my GP has put a request in for me to have an appointment at the Orthopedics as urgent so we wait to see how quick that comes, hopefully they will do a scan to see what is going on but I don't hold my breath for that one! I am taking it easy being very careful with what I do but at least I am managing without too many pain killers now as they just send me to sleep! Thank you all so very much for the fabulous comments I received, they are all appreciated very much, you are all such a fabulous 'family' to have around.

Now this next card I post was done a while back, by that I mean a few weeks but I have not got round to putting it on here so I may as well now until I can get to crafting again.

This is a very simple card I went for the background rather than anything else, inking an A4 sheet of card using different colour distress inks then spraying with Gold & Blue spray inks, I think the fact it was on the 'leather look' card adds interest to the background. I love doing these type of backgrounds lately for my cards.

So I did not deter from the background I just added a single Gold Sweet Pea leaf and a small sentiment in the top corner.

For the inside I placed another piece of the same patterned card and placed a piece of White card over the top to write on.

Items Used:

Printable Heaven 'Leather Look' Cream Card
Tim Holtz Distress Inks Tumbled Glass, Bundled Sage, Shaded Lilac and Abandoned Coral
Creative Expressions Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Mist Egyptian Blue & Marigold
