Rise of the Phoenix

Morning my crafting friends, so good of you to join me today, its always so nice to read your comments and views on my creations, I really appreciate it and I love doing the same back. Sadly though lately I seem to be spending more time blogging than actual crafting so whilst I will always look at your creations everyday I do apologize if I  don't always have time to  comment, sometimes I find it better to comment every other day which some of you may have noticed lol!

Anyway, today's post is from one of Sheena's latest stamp set Little Bit Magical, The Phoenix. I love the colours of the Phoenix so I hope I have done it justice.

I started with my base card matting and layering Red card with Gold Miri Card, embossing the top layer of Red card. I cut a piece of White card to fit then brushed over with Glycerine, heat dried it and inked up the card with Distress inks. The Glycerine helped the colours blend better but the way I heat dried it left mottled marks on the card which I quite liked as it gave the impression of fire.

I stamped the 'Flame' along the bottom of the card a few times using Black archival ink then bleached certain areas at the top of the flames out to ink with Yellow to make the flames stand out more.

Using more White card I stamped the Phoenix with my Versamark ink pad then heat embossed areas in Yellow and Red embossing powder, once cold I rubbed Distress Inks over the top to fill in the gaps of colour. I messy cut this out and shaped the wings before attaching to the front of my card just above the flames. I then attached the whole piece to my base card.

I stamped the sentiment at the top of the card and there it was finished. Here is another view of the card.

The finished dimensions are 7.5" X 7.5".

Seeing as I have a couple of duplicate dies, gone below 200 finally on the crafty blogs and had my blog running over a year now I thought I would have a give away! Yes rather than having duplicate dies sitting on the shelf  I shall be giving them away in a draw, for the draw I shall put your names in a box and get hubby or son to pick out the winners, yes I did say winners as I have three dies to give away, the Male & Female Carolers and The Snowman, I shall put the Male & Female Carolers together as one prize as I think they should be together lol! The Snowman will be a separate prize. So if you want to be entered for the chance to win these then just comment on this post and say YES! I am doing it for this post only and you have until Friday night then I can post the winners names hopefully on Saturday. Please note these ARE NEW  dies not used ones lol!

Thank you for looking and good luck, Jacquie xxx

Christmas Platypus

Morning my crafting friends, I hope today finds you all safe and well. I had a lovely afternoon yesterday crafting, it was just so nice to be able to sit, relax and craft with no rush to be getting anything else done lol! The men were both at work so it was peaceful too!!!

As most of you know I am now on the DT for Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends and although the blog posts do not start till January we have been getting acquainted as they say to our many wonderful sponsors and todays post was a freebie from one of them Meljen's Designs Club

the Christmas Platypus so I hope you like it.

I really enjoyed colouring this in with my Spectrum Noir & Promarkers probably as it was such an unusual image, so as my friend is married to an Australian this shall be their Christmas card lol!

I started by using Kraft card as the base and layered it up with Green miri card. I picked a choice of Christmas papers and embossed the striped, I cut two rectangles of more green miri card and Christmas paper, matted and layered then placed them on the striped paper as seen then wrapped a piece of Red Ribbon around before attaching to my base card.

After colouring my image I added some Glaze to the beak and feet as well as the Holly leaves and some White Flower soft to the rim and  pom pom of the hat. I die cut using Lables Twenty, matted this onto some Brown paper also die cut with labels twenty, I attached this to the right side of the card on top of the Ribbon. I made a bow using the same ribbon, attached this to some Gold tulle and placed them on the left side of the card.

I have not added a sentiment as yet, not sure whether I will but will decide nearer to sending it out.

The finished dimensions are 7.5" X 7.5"

May Each Treasured Memory...

Morning my crafting friends, thank you for joining me today its so lovely to have you here, I do hope this finds you all well. Plenty of hugs coming to those who don't.

Now for todays post I thought I would try the tile effect that John Lockwood showed on one of his shows, I had before done the technique of  inking and heat embossing the raised areas but not the de- bossed areas so that's what I have done for todays post. I have to say I do quite like the look of this technique but I don't think it would suit all embossing folders, it depends on the pattern as well as the depth of the folder.Thank you John for the inspiration!

Being as I was just trying this I randomly picked up some Blue card that was in a pile on my desk that was the size I wanted, I also had a sheet of Cobalt Blue card already folded in half so Blue was my theme! They did not look right just the Blues which is why I have added some White in the mix lol! I do think this would have looked nice with Silver or Grey card instead of the White.

I embossed the Cobalt Blue card with Lattice Garden embossing folder and matted this up with some White card. I embossed the Sky Blue card with the same embossing folder, turned it over and inked the back with my brayer using my Versamark Ink pad and heat embossed with Tropic Pearl Lustre embossing powder.

Then it was decision time as to what to put on top, just a sentiment so the background was not covered up too much or what...as you can see I decided on die cutting Lables Twenty-Five twice, once with White card and once with Cobalt Blue card, before placing the White piece on my card I wrapped a piece of Blue Ribbon around the middle, I then stuck this down with the Blue die cut on top.

With another piece of White card I stamped my sentiment using Chipped Sapphire, applied a piece of Double Sided Adhesive on top then die cut with Lables Eighteen. Once out of the die I removed the adhesive sheet and sprinkled Diamond Snow all over then inked the edge with Chipped Sapphire. I die cut two of the Heirloom Flourish Two, trimmed them slightly and attached them either side of my sentiment. I placed this in the center of my card.

I made a messy bow out of the same ribbon, attached this on the side and to finish the card added a pearl flower on top.  Dimensions are 7" X 5".

I am quite happy with the finished result and I hope you like it too.

Thinking of You

Morning my crafting friends, hope you are all well, plenty of hugs for those who are not.

We break up from work today for a week so I am looking forward to that hopefully I shall be able to get a few cards done!

Sorry for the blue hue on this one, I did photograph it in natural light and under false light but no difference, the image makes it look as if it is bent at the sides lol! Believe me it isn't, my photography is getting worse!!!

This was a quick card to make despite what it looks like, I matted and layered up some White card with some Teal card. I then embossed some White card with this pretty pattern Pirouette, inked it with my Versamark and heat embossed it with Artic Bay Lustre. I matted this onto my base card.

In my stash I had this striplet already cut out of White card so I attached that along the bottom of the card and placed a big bow in the middle out of Aqua Silky Crushed Ribbon.

I stamped my sentiment onto a piece of White card and die cut with Labels Twenty, I die cut a piece of teal card using a larger die from the same set, matted these together and attached them above the striplet in the center.  There you have the finished card. Dimensions 7.5" X 7.5"

You are Loved

Morning my crafting friends, hope today finds you all well, soon it will be Halloween and then Christmas, just don't know where this year has gone.

Today's post shows a card I have sent to my Daughter, she has just split up with her partner of 5-6 years so its a very hard time for her as well as a shock, anyway I sent this to let her know we are all thinking of her, by 'we' I mean the family lol!

May I give a warm Welcome to Loll my latest follower, so glad to have you on board. Loll has a most wonderful creative blog of her own you can find her here: http://www.stampingwithloll.com/  Please do go and have a look at her wonderful work.

My base card was  a sheet of A4 White Textured card folded in half and matted up with some Periwinkle card.  I found some old embossed card in variety of colours so I chose the peach colour, though it does not show up as Peach in the photos sorry! In the center I die cut the outside of the Vienna die and attached it to my card using Foam tape to raise it up.

Out of White card I die cut the inner of the Vienna die and placed this down in the recess of my card.

Using the Old Oak Tree Stamp I stamped it onto White card, masked off a circle for the Sun and using distress inks as paints coloured it in as seen. Once dry I gave it two coats of Glaze which gave it a Matt finish, a third coat would have given it a gloss look but I wanted a Matt look. I added foam pads to the back and placed it in the center of my Austrian die.

I added a small bow in the corner then stamped my sentiment onto White card, die cut it out with Circle die and inked whilst in the die to match the Blue card.

There you have the finished card.

We wish you a Merry christmas...

Morning my crafting friends, I do hope this finds you all safe and well, plenty of hugs being sent your way if not.  We have had some pretty good weather over the weekend, it would be nice if we could have it for just one more week but who knows!!!

Anyhow, I have a little quick Christmas card for you today, I am afraid I did not stamp it too well but I was not going to try and over stamp otherwise you would be seeing double vision lol!

I started with my Basic White 6" X 6" card and matted and layered up with Burgundy and more White card.
For the topper I put a thin double sided adhesive tape around the edge and covered with gilding flakes. I thin stamped on the music stamp, I obviously did not press hard enough as it is a little patchy in places so I do apologize for that.

I placed some red poinsettias on the card as seen with a couple of leaves. I had put some Cosmic Shimmer Gold PVA in the center of the poinsettias.

There you have the finished card, like I said  quick one!

In All Things of Nature

Morning crafters, another weekend is upon us, I do hope its a good one for you and that you have lots of crafting time!

Now when I did my Autumn card that I posted on Sunday, I had used the stencil over the distress inks I had used, with today's card I used it straight onto White card, using again my Versamark Ink Pad and Cosmic Shimmer Precious Pigments, I quite liked the colour that this gave and it was even better when I found some Satin Card and Glitter that matched with it. I apologize now for the long post!!!

Like my other card I thought this inked stencil was too nice to cover up so I decided on just a sentiment, looking through my stamps I found this sentiment from Sheena Douglass that fitted the bill nicely. I stamped it onto some White card with Vintage Photo, inked through the die again with Vintage photo and die cut using Delightful Circles.

I put some Double Adhesive Tape round the edge of the card and coated it with Glitter, like a Peach colour, then attached this to some Brown Corrugated card.  I made a Base card out of two sheets of Satin card, a Dusky Pink colour, this was double sided with a brighter Pink on the other side but I preferred this shade. I put more Double Sided tape round the edge of more White card and again coated it in Glitter before attaching this to my base Satin card. I then attached the Brown corrugated card on top so the Glitter formed a boarder round the sides.

I attached my sentiment with foam pads to give it some height and added interest then I wanted some leaves to go in the corner, now those of you who are regulars to my blog may remember the maple leaf I made last year, well I was going to make more of these for this card but then thought what about using real leaves from my Acer trees, they are turning lovely colours and yes you may be thinking they would go Brown and die off, well they just might still do that yet lol! I decided to experiment and completely coat each leaf & stem with Glaze in the hope of preserving them as they are. Has anyone else tried this or know of anyone who may have tried it and did it work? I am sure Top  Coat nail varnish will do the same! Perhaps some of you are thinking that's old school, been done before, after all you can press flowers, sorry if this is the case. When I took the photo of this card (Tuesday) the leaves had been on for a couple of days and still looked okay? I am hoping they stay that way as I think the natural leaves look great I have done the same with more of the leaves and leaves from another plant that has changed colour so if it does work I have a stash of them. Although I do not like stripping my Acers of their leaves they are due to be blown off by the wind very soon so I may as well make use of them!!!
I will add a bit on the end of this post before it goes 'live' to let you know how they are doing lol!

There you have the finished card, dimensions are 8" X 8".

I almost lost it last year, thankfully this year it turned a corner! I have another Acer that I have also had for 20 years with the fine feathery leaves that are turning yellow.

Christmas Wishes for You

Morning my crafting friends, so good to have you here today. I hope you are all well?

This is my second Purple card, though technically its more White and Purple!!!

I folded a sheet of White textured card in half to form the base card and matted and layered this up with some Rich Plum card and more White textured card.

I had this Rich Plum Oval in my stash box so I embossed it with a snowflake folder, I also had this base of the Calabria die so I stamped it with my sentiment using Seedless Preserve and attached it on top of the Oval with foam pads.
Adding some snowflakes, with pearls in the center, in opposite corners finished the card.

Dimensions are 7" X 5".

I am so blessed

Morning crafters, hope today finds you all safe and well, lots of hugs to those who are not. Thank you for visiting me today its so good to have you here, if you have a blog of your own then please do leave a comment with the link and I will return the favour.

Well  only another two weeks to go before we break up for half-term. This year is sure moving fast!

I am in Purple mode at the moment so the next couple of posts are definitely Purple lol!!!

I started by gluing together two sheets of Centura Pearl Ivory card to make an 8"X8" size base card. I matted and layered this up with Deep Plum card and more Ivory card as seen.

I found this sheet of Purple patterned paper but not sure whether I got it from Tattered Lace CD or where but I thought it was pretty. I wanted to put a Lace pattern on it so I used the mask Classic Lace, I inked up the stencil with my versamark ink pad positioned this on the paper then heat embossed with White embossing powder, unfortunately once dry the paper rippled up a little, I used glue to stick it on the card when I should have used tape this would have probably kept it flat but never mind we all learn by our mistakes. I will try and put some glue under the curves and flatten it a bit more.

I die cut Sue Wilson Italian Collection Calabria and Vienna from her Austrian Collection, inking the Vienna die cut with Shaded Lilac and stamping the sentiment with Seedless Preserve before matting and layering them on top of the card as seen. I kept it all flat for posting.

There you have the finished card.

Autumn is a second Spring...

Morning my crafting friends, my we are having a mixture of weather here, one moment its really cold and pouring with rain then 10 minutes later its sunny & hot!!! This is how it has been all weekend so far,  jumper on, jumper off...lol! Still yesterday I gave up the housework to have some play time so instead of my second Purple card as promised I have decided to show you what I made yesterday! The Purple is now scheduled for Tuesday!

I knew what I wanted to achieve with my Autumn card, and I will say now I have not achieved it yet!  I started by colouring in some White textured card with Distress inks, Dried Marmalade, Fired Brick & Rusty Hinge to get the desired Autumnal effect.

My next step was to try and ink up the Oak leaves mask so I could cover them in gilding flakes, however I don't have any glue other than my versamark ink pad and this was not strong enough to hold the gilding flakes so I had to give up on that for the time being, I shall go and get some glue on Monday. Not to be beaten I covered the leaves with Cosmic Shimmer Precious Sparkle Pigments in Red Metal, Bright Bronze and Gold Sparkle, I was quite happy with how they looked together, unfortunately the photos do not show up the sparkle!
I stamped my sentiment down in the bottom right corner pressing extra hard as it was textured card and sometimes the ink does not go into the grooves! I had four metal corner embellishments so I glued these into each of the corners then added my topper of an Autumn leaf. I matted this onto Gold Miri card, added foam tape on the back and attached it to some Red Corrugated card which I felt set it off better that the Orange or Brown would have done. I attached this to the Black base card where I was going to leave a very thin boarder round the whole of the card so it would fit in the envelope but as it happens its still very slightly too big so I guess I will have to make a box, watch this space!!!

On the inside I added some Red card, stamped a verse onto some Orange card and die cut it out using Captivating Squares and placed it in the center of the Red card. There you have the finished card. Dimensions are 8"X8".

Items Used:
Create and Craft White Textured Card

Golden Angel

Morning crafters so nice to have you visit me today, hope this finds you all well? Well almost the end of another week, doesn't time fly? Soon be Christmas lol!

Please may I welcome my new followers, its great to have you on board Ladies.

Sorry about the photos on this one, I wanted to show the Diamond snow against the Cosmic Shimmer pigment but could not get the right light on it, the smaller image might show it better. I placed some Double Sided Adhesive onto some Black card and die cut the Angel out, I lifted the sections of adhesive off from the skirt and sprinkled with Diamond Snow, I then peeled back the adhesive from the body and brushed over the Enchanted Gold Cosmic Shimmer. Peeling off the remaining adhesive from the wings I covered them with Silver Embossing powder and heat set it. All that was left was the little stars on her body which I coated with a darker Gold cosmic shimmer. I die cut the dove out of some White Centura Pearl card.
For my base card I folded some White card in half to make a 5"X7" card, I then matted it up with some Blue card. With more White card I layered up with some Blue corrugated card and wrapped some White Crinkle ribbon around the bottom then matted this on top of my base card.

I attached the Angel on top with the dove as if it was flying out of her hands. I made a bow out of White ribbon and attached this in the bottom right corner. I made a little tag that I stamped the word 'Peace' onto and placed this just under the bow. There you have the finished card. I think it would have looked better had I used White card rather than Black for my Angel, especially as far as the wings are concerned.

Christmas in the Heart

Morning my crafting friends, so nice to have you here with me today, if you have a blog of your own then please do leave a comment with the link and I can return the favour.

We have more of Sheena Douglass today ( why do I keep going to type Sheena Easton lol!) as I have said before I love her stamps, especially the scenic ones, so here we have two stamps put together to form a scene, one of the trees and one of the deer. I stamped these on to some White card and coloured in the deer with Rusty Hinge & Vintage Photo but left the background White, yes it would have looked more dramatic had I coloured the sky Blue but I liked it left White! I then added a little Glamour Dust under their feet.

In my stash of scrap card I found this piece which had a circle die cut out of it and it fitted perfectly over the image to form a frame, sorry cannot remember what die was used to make this and I have looked through my dies but it beats me as I cannot find it lol! I wrapped some Pale Blue seam Binding Ribbon around underneath the aperture and fixed the frame on top of the image with some foam pads to raise it up then matted both onto a periwinkle base card.

I stamped my sentiment (from the same stamp set as the images)onto more White card, inked in the frame with Tumbled Glass and die cut it with  the center piece from Radiant Rectangles. I attached this at the bottom right corner of the card. I made a bow out of more of the same seam binding ribbon and attached this on the left side.
I made a small snowflake out of Vellum using the two smallest dies from Create a Flake-Five, inked up and covered with Glamour dust and added a pearl in the center, this I then attached to the center of my snowflake.

There you have the finished card, Dimensions 5"X7".

'Twas night before Christmas...

Morning crafters, so good of you to join me today, if I can offer just one person some inspiration then my blog is worth while.

I am back on the Christmas theme today and possible for the rest of this week so please bare with me lol!

I have been playing with my Sheena stamps again, honestly that Lady is constantly bringing out new, fabulous items all the time, just don't know how she finds the time to design, but I do love her work, hence why I have so many lol!!! In this one I have featured her Santa's Sleigh and the Rooftops together.

I started with a sheet of dark green card and folded it in half to form a 5"X7" base card. Onto this I matted and layered some White card and more Green card with a top layer of White card that I had pierced around the edge.

Using more White card I stamped the Rooftops twice, (hopefully the join does not show), using Black Soot and 'painted' them in with Pumice Stone and Black Soot. Once dry I used my glue pen over the roof tops and sprinkled some Deco Art Glamour Dust all over, not forgetting the top of the chimney pots.

I bleached out a couple of windows and inked these with Squeezed Lemonade to look like lights. I stamped the Santa & Sleigh over the rooftops and 'painted' this with Black Soot. I inked the sentiment with my Versamark Ink Pad, stamped it in the top right corner and heat embossed it with Silver embossing powder.

There you have the finished card.

Autumn Owl

Hello crafters, hope this finds you safe and well. I am a bit late for posting today, but better late than never as they say! As I am typing this it is pouring down with rain and quite windy, hopefully it will calm down soon, my male cat is not happy as he likes to be outdoors lol! Thankfully I mowed both lawns this morning before it rained!

Now todays post is a card I made a while back but never posted as I was not sure whether I liked the finished look or not, the problem being I think I should have added a solid base under the Owl to make him stand out more, I just did not want to cover up the beautiful papers lol! Anyway I have decided to post it so I can enter the Allsorts Autumn challenge!!!

I started with my basic White card and matted it up with Brown & Green card.
I cut down the sheet of Autumn paper from Bearly-mine and matted this on top of the Green card, these are gorgeous papers, so pretty I don't want to use them lol!

I die cut my Owl using a light Brown card, adding his hat & scarf cut out of Green & Orange card.  For the background I die cut the Vienna die and Flourish two die out of Dark Brown card and attached these altogether as seen and placed on the top of my card just slightly off center. I die cut another flourish two die and cut into it to add the sides as accents in the top corners of the card.

There you have the finished card, I love this little Owl and intend on making a Christmas card with him on soon, watch this space lol!

Items Used:

Joy & Striplet

Morning my crafting friends so good of you to visit me today, its lovely having so many friends in blog land and its great to be inspired by so many crafting people out there.

Today is a special day for me as I remember my older brother John, he would have been 63 today but sadly he was killed in a hit & run 37years ago next month at the young age of 26, it does not seem that long ago but you never forget. I often wonder what he would be doing now if he was still alive.

Sorry, on a more happier note I have been playing with my striplet die, after die cutting it I placed a piece of Double Sided Adhesive over the back to save all the cut outs then covered it with Diamond Snow Glitter to add sparkle, I was quite please with how it looked but noticed one or two of the cut outs were starting to come off after applying the glitter so I stuck another piece of Double Sided Adhesive on top to hold in place along with a piece of Acetate over the top, this sort of sealed the die cut pieces with the glitter like a sandwich.
Now I had no idea what I was going to do with these it just seemed a good idea at the time lol!

As I had bought some new papers the other day I decide to mat & layer these with some  Blush card, with the striplet sandwiches and the original striplet that I had cut out I placed them side by side, on top of my card with the original striplet raised up using foam pads. I did intend to have this as a Christmas card but it was not looking very Christmassy at the moment lol! I had intended to place another die over the top with a sentiment in but I did not wish to cover up the striplet so decided on using the new Sue Wilson Die 'JOY'. I die cut this out using the Blush card and some White card, attached them together and placed it on the right side of the card, thankfully it did not cover up too much of my sandwich striplet but it did leave an empty space the other side so I added a bow to fill the gap and even the card out a bit. I added one of the large Pearl embellishments and this finished the card.
